@matt prior Boy, have you ever even seen combat in iraq, afghanistan, and syria? That was a dumb question, because you called all of those conflicts generally easier. War is war you fucking fuck wit. I am now out, but my friends are still dying in afghanistan. What they do to people over there would have you pissing your pants in no time. Who knows, maybe I will get to see you piss your pants in person if there is ever a conflict with Russia or china. You wouldn't get to avoid the fight then. No, you will have to go die along with all the rest of us.

I always wonder why in every eastern country battle Americans lose their lives in thousands !? By contrast , Iraq , Afghanistan , Syria and middle east looks like a piece of cake ! There is deep looming suspicion in me that US might fare worse if ever try to engage Communist China head on ! Yankees may have much better chance of winning all out war with Russia but not with China ! Casualties for US might go in millions and devastation of trillions !

The term "Forgotten War," existed before the Vietnam War. It was called that NOT after Vietnam because of being eclipsed in catastrophe and time involved, but because WW2 simply overshadowed it. No one wanted to think about it because it was a war that wasn't actually over or won. It was halted via armistice is all. The country was still celebrating the WW2 Victory. My uncle was a medic in Korea. He called it "The Forgotten War" when he talked to me about it in the early 60s. He also made the point that it was a "police action," and not a war. It was a United Nations sanctioned police action, not a U.S. declared war.

Damian the Americans were deciding to surrender and or leave South Korea it was the Turks that threatened America to continue to fight there are more stories that Turks carried in the war while other countries were surrendering the American general was about to surrender until a Turkish office pulled out his gun n pointed at his head n say we don’t surrender we fight till we die or we fought our way out n they did n succeed u can go to any South Korean n say who did more in the war they will say it was the Turks

Omer Soylu Not really, the majority of UN troops deployed were American along with US Marines leading the push and fighting battle. Most UN troops didn’t even stand at the fronts, the Americans had the highest casualties of them all and a American Army General led the coalition. The South Koreans theirself suffered the most, but the other coalition forces had lower numbers and worst logistics and training. The US were to send in around 1.3 million US troops into South Korea in the whole war, and suffered the most casualties apart from South Korean forces. (Estimated to have around 350.000 KIA, and alot of several injuries) The other did much, but in the long term and the fact is that the Americans really focused on the war and fought the hardest along with the South Koreans.

One fact you got wrong. The Soviets didn’t fear the first election wouldn’t be fair, they feared the entire Korean Peninsula would chose Freedom over Totalitarian rule. They needed to control North Korea’s election so it would not be fair, but provide a communist result. That’s why their were two elections, North and South. When putting together a documentary it is important to get the facts, vs to try and tell a nice story of fiction.

Quit calling it a civil war! Jesus. The decision between Truman and Stalin was made in Potsdam, without any Koreans present. It was a compromise for concessions in Europe. The U.S. didn't even give a rats about Korea in 1945. They originally thought that Stalin might go back on his word and take all of Korea from the Japanese. They were actually surprised when the Russians did stop at the 38th Parallel. - from Max Hasting's "The Korean War." Another thing: You mention MacArthur (Supreme Allied Commander), but not the actual general in charge of the Pusan Pocket. GEN Wheeler. He was the one who provided the leadership that kept that pocket intact.

@C B KMT won't stand a chance even with the help from the US or UN(Not likely since CCP is USSR's little brother). KMT was not just losing a war against CCP at that moment, they are more like a combination of all sorts of warlords that only under the same name, they lose control of the majority rural area where CCP had strong support from. Even if they lucky enough to win the war, they still have to spend a lot of time to cure the huge division between the rich and the majority poor, if they didn't the have the good fortune for that "revolution", China would be more likely to be a country like Brazil. But who knows?

@Luis Brito But it existed in 1945-1949 when he Chinese civil war was decided. And if General McArthur would have had his way in 1950 communism on the Chinese mainland would have been crushed after red Chinese intervention in Korea. General Chian Kai Shek and the KMT planned a liberation of the mainland as late as the mid 1960s and 1970s. But by then it was too late.
