Watching several of these asian food history videos lately, the one thing that stands out the most compared to western food, besides the higher skills, is that they seem to actually care about promoting health benefits! Even their "fast foods" have some sort of health promoting qualities! It's so different than what I'm use to, and it's really attracting me to it. These qualities aren't even represented in the westernied asian foods here in North America, or at least at the food preperations places I've visited. Here we have a heavy theme of "buyer beware", which is one of the things that makes me loose faith in capatalism.

Funniest thing is now claiming that kimchee originated from Japan. They call it kimaachee. My coworker who is from Sapporo actually believes it and he lost a lotta money on that bet.

Traslation states that soy bean came from manchuria. But they failed to understand that manchuria was part of korea long ago and the people (koreans) there brought soy to the land which is called korea now. This also means that soy sauce was originally made by the ancient koreans. Discovery channel failed to understand that people lived in early manchuria were infact koreans. Now that manchuria is part of china discovert channel thinks soy and soy sauce came from china. One other thing that discovery channel failed to interpret correctly in the earlier part of this film is that they called "chinese doctor". Infact, the kimchi competition-er should have been called "korean herbal doctor".

www.soyinfocenter.com/books/174 states: "668 CE or before - 'Ancient Chinese records indicate that soy sauce is not indigenous to China, but rather was introduced from Korea during the era of the Koguryo Dynasty' (2nd century BCE to 668 CE) (Kwon & Song 1996, p. 20-32)."

@bada bing Back when I was a kid gas was still *95 cents a gallon* so stop being such a child and grow up a bit. Don't you understand that there is no "win" here because you aren't entitled to your own facts? If you were simply voicing your opinion I couldn't care less but mistakes must always be corrected. It only proves you are more of a man if you have the gumption to admit you screwed up. Does it hurt? Yes. Is it embarrassing? It can be. Making mistakes are like having assholes - everyone has one.

Except healthy amount of daily salt intake is actually pretty high? Look up contemporary research before you blabber. Low sodium and super high sodium levels are equally bad. Korean food does not have super high sodium to be unhealthy. And actually, American food has one of the highest sodium levels, but research actually proved that despite this, Americans are eating a healthy average amount of salt according to the newer studies.
