Since 1945 aircraft carriers have proved that they have an unrivaled ability to deliver massive firepower against the enemy, at the same time as possessing the traditional flexibility of a navel force.
Carriers and more particularly the aircraft they support have been subject to constant development. This color documentary traces that development from its very beginnings in the First World War.

Interesting how you label American carrier tactics in the modern era "questionable" but you don't mention that Britain's claim to the Faulklin Islands is even more questionable holdover from the Colonial era. That is my only problem with this documentary except for the fact that the "tower" on American aircraft carriers are called an "island" not a tower.

@52:11 these would be F-14 Tomcats and F-111's. Not F-4 Phantoms. I really get tired of the "pro-British" airpower documentaries. The Jolly Brits have little knowledge of what air power really is... @52:35 the Tomcat that shotdown the Libyan MiG is in the Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum, Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center, in Chantilly Virginia

And look at the pathetic Soy boy weaklings we have as an excuse for men today. These guys faced death at age 19 for poverty wages, the current crop of "men" burst into tears when they hear a pronoun they don't agree with. People's attitude towards smoking today is just case in point. In my book, if your living moments away from being blown to a watery grave, light up wherever you can without starting a fire. Again Brit carrier = innovation, USA carrier = controversy. Need to read history a bit more: In 1910, Eugene Burton Ely made the first successful unassisted airplane takeoff from the wooden deck of the USS Birmingham. In 1911 he made the first successful airplane landing on the USS Pennsylvania, the first ship to be equipped with a landing deck and arresting system.

I like how the producers of this video, just happened to leave out the WHY of the carrier bombing Libya. After Muammar Gaddafi had trained terrorists who placed a bomb on a passenger plane that blew up over Lockerby Scotland and chicken shit France, that was busy sucking North African pricks, had refused to let the U.S. fly from a base in England, over frog-land. Now Frenchie is reaping the storm he sewed.

Wildly, flagrantly inaccurate. The narrator said that the Korean War started in 1949 at 39:30? Janson Media does the date 25 Jun 1950 mean anything to you? At 40:10 or so, only mention Skyraiders, but show Corsairs in addition to the Skyraiders. With respect to the strike on Libya, it was said that because US carriers are sovereign territory, the US could act unilaterally. Well, maybe those F111s that took off from England to make the strike didn't realize this and they snuck out of the UK before the Queen and Parliament could object. Horrible sight of the USS Franklin (CV-13). 1294 casualties with 807 sailors KIA from that inferno and its after effects.
